Director of Operations & Community Development
Sister Rebekah Pontow
Sister Rebekah is a devoted wife, mother, leader, and woman of faith whose heart for family and service is evident in every area of her life. She has been married for nearly 19 years to her husband, Jon, whom she considers one of God’s greatest blessings. Together they are raising their two children—an 18-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son—in Sandy, Oregon, where they share a multigenerational home with her mother, Nancy. For Rebekah, family is more than a priority—it is ministry. She treasures creating a home filled with love, faith, encouragement, and laughter, where each generation is valued and supported.
This year marks a particularly meaningful season for their family as their daughter prepares to graduate with honors from Sandy High School this June before beginning a new chapter at Oregon State University this fall. Watching her children grow into their own callings has been one of Rebekah’s greatest joys, and she considers motherhood one of her most important assignments from God. Whether helping with school projects, encouraging new goals, or simply creating everyday family memories, she is intentional about pouring faith and wisdom into the next generation.
Beyond her home, Sister Rebekah has dedicated much of her life to leadership, advocacy, and community development. She founded and led a parent-driven nonprofit organization, where she developed hands-on experience in community organizing, fundraising, volunteer coordination, and strategic planning. Through that work, she successfully led initiatives that raised more than $10,000 to help build a new playground for a local school—creating a lasting impact for families and children in the community. Her ability to bring people together around a shared vision has become one of the defining strengths of her leadership.
Her commitment to youth and families continues through years of service in a variety of leadership roles. She has served as a Girl Scout leader, Girl Scout Unit Recruitment Manager, a board member for a local high school booster club, and as a leader supporting youth robotics programs. In each role, her passion has remained the same: helping young people discover their gifts, build confidence, and realize their potential while strengthening the families and communities around them.
At Neighborhood Church of God, Sister Rebekah serves as Director of Operations & Community Development, where she brings both vision and practical leadership to the ministry. She is passionate about building bridges between the church and the community, developing outreach opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and helping create programs that meet both spiritual and practical needs. Her heart is deeply rooted in the words of Matthew 25:35–36—to serve others with compassion, dignity, and the love of Christ. She believes the church should not only be a place of worship, but a place of hope, healing, and transformation for the entire community.
When she is not serving in ministry or leading in the community, Rebekah enjoys life’s quieter moments. You can often find her with a good book in her favorite reading nook, listening to music, spending time with family, playing games, watching movies, or cheering on the people she loves most. Whether at home, in ministry, or out in the community, Sister Rebekah leads with authenticity, compassion, and a genuine desire to see others grow, succeed, and experience the love of God.
